HS volleyball
West Davidson defeated Salisbury in a five-set match on Tuesday.
The Green Dragons won 25-20, 25-19, 15-25, 16-25 and 15-11 to stay undefeated in the Central Carolina Conference.
Ashley Yang had five aces, five kills, 37 assists and 17 digs for the second-place Hornets.
Ava Morris had five aces, 15 kills and 11 digs. Addie Myers had nine kills and 13 digs. Carmen McQueen had six kills and six blocks. Dayami Acevedo had six kills and 19 digs. Kendall Henderson had eight kills. Kyliah Pearson-Hasty had 14 digs.
NFL
San Francisco defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (North Rowan) is likely to miss the rest of the season. Hargrave had his first sack of the season on Sunday against the L.A. Rams but tore a triceps muscle during the game.
It’s an injury that will require surgery.
Middle school golf
Shorthanded Erwin shot 163 and tied Ellis for first place at Mocksville’s Colin Creek. Cam Honeycutt’s 35 led the Eagles.
Back at full strength, Erwin shot a season-low 146 to win a match. Honeycutt shot 33, while Lane Powers shot 35.
College volleyball
Lenoir-Rhyne, coached by South Rowan graduate Nicole Barringer, beat Anderson for a 13-0 start to the season.

Troy’s Tori Hester (West Rowan) is 14th nationally with 4.54 kills per set.

Kelcie Love (West Rowan) leads Catawba with 64 kills. Riley Hill (East Rowan) leads the team with 91 digs. Kary Hales (Carson) is second with 71 digs.

Allen’s Jaemias Morrow (North Rowan) had six carries for 33 yards in a 35-10 win against Point.

Carson’s Jorge Clemente-Garcia (15:45) and Eric Gillis (16:05) ran strong times in the Championship Division of the Hare & Hounds Invitational at McAlpine.
College golf
Catawba’s Mary-Paige King shot a third-round 69 and had the lowest three-round score in program history (3-over 219) in the Savannah Lakes Fall Invitational. She finished fifth.

Catawba’s Paul Esnault was the SAC Golfer of the Week after winning the Malone-Glenmoor Fall Invitational. He took charge of the tournament with a 5-under 67 in the second round.
Catawba finished second in the team scoring.
