SALISBURY — Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro have announced a new partnership that will enhance educational opportunities for students by facilitating a seamless transfer process. The Transfer Promise program ensures that Rowan-Cabarrus graduates who meet the program requirements will be admitted to UNC Greensboro with junior standing regardless of their major. This initiative is designed to streamline the transfer process and allow students to transition to UNC Greensboro to pursue their bachelor’s degree without losing credits or time.
The Transfer Promise program is designed to simplify the process for students and eliminate the need for additional forms or applications. This barrier-free method aims to make the transfer experience smoother and increase opportunities for students to obtain transfer scholarships.
“This partnership marks a significant step forward in our efforts to expand affordable access to higher education and provide clear pathways for student success,” said Dr. Carol S. Spalding, president of Rowan-Cabarrus. “By establishing a seamless transfer pathway to UNC Greensboro, we are empowering our students to achieve their academic and career goals more efficiently and effectively.”
The partnership was formalized with a signing event during a recent strategic conversation with the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s Board of Trustees. Representing UNC Greensboro were Vice Chancellor Tina McEntire and Associate Vice Chancellor Dr. Joel Lee, and representing Rowan-Cabarrus were President Dr. Carol S. Spalding and Vice President of Academic Programs Dr. Michael Quillen.
“We are excited to partner with Rowan-Cabarrus Community College to create new opportunities for students in North Carolina,” said Tina McEntire, vice chancellor of UNC Greensboro. “The Transfer Promise program underscores our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion by ensuring that a high-quality education remains accessible and affordable.”
Through this partnership, Rowan-Cabarrus and UNC Greensboro aim to build a supportive educational pathway that encourages student achievement, persistence and graduation. The Transfer Promise program aligns with both institutions’ missions to foster academic excellence and community engagement.
