Wind advisory affecting central North Carolina until Friday afternoon

On Thursday at 11:32 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory valid from 8 p.m. until Friday 2 p.m. The advisory is for Alexander, Iredell, Davie, Rowan and Cabarrus counties.

The NWS describes, “East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.”

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” says the NWS. “Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
