High school tennis roundup: Hornets wrap up CCC season

SALISBURY — Salisbury beat North Rowan 7-0 to wrap up another undefeated Central Carolina Conference season.

No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles weren’t contested. The Hornets (13-1, 10-0) won handily in the matches that were contested.

Salisbury has won every CCC girls tennis championship since 2003 and hasn’t lost a conference match since it went 17-1 when the conference was a stout tennis league in 2018.

Next for the Hornets will be the 1A/2a Central Carolina Conference Tournament that will determine single and doubles qualifiers for the individual regionals.

GRANITE QUARRY — East Rowan closed the regular season with a 7-2 loss to Central Cabarrus in the South Piedmont Conference.

East’s wins were at No. 2 doubles (Mady Morris/Caroline Quick) and No. 3 doubles (Layla Cooper/Ava Quick).

Carson lost 9-0 to Concord to close the regular season.

Carson, East, West Rowan and South Rowan players will get ready for the upcoming South Piedmont Conference Tournament. The tournament determines individual singles and doubles qualifiers for the regionals.
