Who’s not full of angst over our upcoming election? Do we obsess over the slightest tweak to ever-changing polls to speculate on an outcome? North Carolina is often unpredictable, having a split-ticket history of electing candidates from both parties to top state and national offices at the same time. How about the latest bombshell revelations about GOP gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson that have garnered national attention? Will they have any effect on his personal support, down-ballot races or party voter turnout? Or not? Are we experiencing any electioneering shenanigans? How critical a state is North Carolina anyway?
Dr. Michael Bitzer is ready to share his insights into what is happening in our Tar Heel politics (in his words: A lot) and what we can look for in the remaining days of the 2024 campaign season.
As an internationally recognized political analyst, Dr. Bitzer has been a Catawba College professor for more than two decades, currently teaches both politics and history as politics department chair, and has authored a book on N.C. redistricting as well as chapters for college-level texts. He is married to attorney Andrea Anders and has one son Drew.
The event will take place at the Country Club of Salisbury with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., and the program at 8 p.m. Cost is $50/pp for ESU members, $70/pp for non-members. Reservation cutoff is Monday, Oct. 14. For more information, contact ESU president Gerry Wood at gerry@oldyorkllc.com or 704-213-6008.
