High school volleyball roundup: Carson, East win county matchups

SALISBURY — Salisbury pummeled South Davidson  25-12, 25-11 and 25-12 in Central Conference volleyball action on Monday.

The Hornets (10-7, 9-2) are the second-place team in the Central Carolina Conference.

Ashley Yang had 34 assists and 18 digs.

Ava Morris had 13 kills and 16 digs.

Carmen McQueen had six aces and seven kills. Dayami Acevedo had seven digs. Kendall Henderson had eight kills. Ella Lockhart had four  aces and seven digs. Kyliah Pearson-Hasty had 11 digs.

The Hornets will celebrate Senior Night on Wednesday against North Rowan. Yang will be recognized  for 2,000 career assists, and she’s getting close to 1,000 digs.

Morris needs four kills for 1,000 for her career.

North Rowan put up a fight on Senior Night but lost to Lexington 25-16, 25-21 and 25-23 on Monday in CCC action.

Carson (20-5, 14-1) moved a step closer to a South Piedmont Conference co-championship by sweeping South Rowan 25-21, 25-16 and 25-11.

Meredith Faw had seven kills for South (14-7, 10-5).

Campbell Withers had 16 digs, with Faw getting 12 and Meghan Eagle 11.

Raegan Shell had eight assists.

East Rowan swept West Rowan in SPC action, with the Mustangs winning 27-25, 25-9 and 25-19 in Mount Ulla.

West had beaten the Mustangs in a five-set match in early September.

Alli Corl had 12 kills, with Cameron Ostle getting 10, and Ella Lowry eight for the Mustangs (18-8, 10-5).

Jacee Eudy had 30 assists.

Jordan Dry had 20 digs. Corl had 16.

East has a game left with Robinson and likely will be the No. 3 seed for the SPC tourney, while West (9-10, 9-7) will be seeded fifth.
