SALISBURY — Rowan Aquatic Club is hosting its annual “Military Mile,” a non-competitive swim, at the Hurley YMCA on Oct. 19.
The event starts at 8:20 a.m. The fee is $30. Swimmers will swim 66 lengths.
Sign up at the front desk. Sign up by Oct. 12 to receive a T-shirt.
All proceeds go to the Family Readiness Group. The funds benefit military families in Rowan that are experiencing deployment.
Every RAC swimmer is encouraged to participate and accept donations for this rewarding event.
RAC began the initiative in 2015 to educate about Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
In 2016, RAC started raising funds for the Family Readiness Group.
The Stars and Stripes for the Natatorium, flown over Iraq, was gifted to the YMCA in 2019.
This year will mark the 10th Military Mile event in Salisbury.
