“Lizzie Borden took an ax, gave her mother 40 whacks…” and so goes the familiar, twisted nursery rhyme we are all familiar with. Well, just in time for the Halloween season, Lee Street is serving up a killer hard rock musical you do not want to miss.

Opening this Friday, Lee Street theatre is bringing the thriller-killer musical “Lizzie” to the stage, which is based on Lizzie Borden. This hard rock musical is full of rage, sex, betrayal and, of course, bloody murder! In the heat of late summer 1892, Andrew Borden and his wife are found murdered in their house. The main suspect in the murders is Andrew’s youngest daughter from a previous marriage, Lizzie Borden. Using a searing rock score, and based on the historical record, Lizzie explores the heady and heated days leading up to the murder, Lizzie’s controversial acquittal of all charges, and the creation of a new American myth.

“This show is thrilling, fun and full of live rock music that will get you out of your seats” Lee Street theatre Executive Artistic Director and production director Rod Oden said. “This four-female musical is full of bangers that call back to great hard rock, grunge and punk era music and bands. You will want to be alongside Lizzie when she serves her parents their much-deserved desserts.”

Oden also mentioned that the production, helmed by music director Matty Montes, will be performed with a live band, and includes rocking, headbanging choreo from Lee Street’s own Kelly Sandoval.

This powerhouse local cast includes the talents of Lindsey Litka-Montes, Shannon Harris, Dior Scott and Sarah Deutsch. The production is directed by Oden, with music directed by Matty Montes and choreography by Sandoval. It also includes production co-design by Oden and Sandoval, costume design by Jacquelyn Loy, stage management by Kenzie Cloninger, video/FX operation by Camden Trimmer, sound engineering by Fia Goudes, ASM/A2 work by Evan Moreno and crew work by Tristan Saunders.
