Staff report

South Piedmont Conference golfers will be trying to qualify to compete in the 3A State Championships when they play in the 3A West Regional on Monday, Oct. 21.

The girls will be playing on a challenging course at Cramer Mountain Club. Play starts at 9 a.m.

The worst score that can be made on a hole in the regional is a triple bogey. Players pick up their ball at that point and get ready for the next hole.

Players from seven conferences have been assigned to the regional — the Big South, Mountain 7, Northwestern 3A/4A, Queen City 3A/4A, South Piedmont, Western Foothills and the Mountain 3A/4A.

The top three teams qualify for the state tournament, and the top 17 individuals not on those teams also will qualify.
