High school boys soccer roundup: Cougars, Hornets win

CHINA GROVE —  Anthony Medina Beckham had a goal and two assists to lead Carson’s soccer team to 3-0 win against West Rowan on Monday.

Diego Vasquez and Jon Pendleton also scored for Carson (6-6-6, 5-6-4) in the South Piedmont Conference game.

Moises Martinez was credited with an assist.

Kevin Delgado and Adam Gardner split the clean sheet in goal.

Noah Freeman made seven saves for the Falcons.

GRANITE QUARRY — Noah Dillon scored two goals, but East Rowan fell 4-2 in overtime to Central Cabarrus in a South Piedmont Conference match on Monday.

LANDIS — Klaus Rowen scored the first goal for Concord (17-2-4, 12-1-2) and the first-place Spiders shut out South Rowan 3-0 on Monday in SPC action.

SALISBURY — Salisbury won 2-0 against Lexington on Senior Night to stay unbeaten in the Central Carolina Conference.

The Hornets (17-1-3, 10-0) got two goals from David Austin. Sam Goodman assisted on both.

 The Hornets recognized the careers of seniors Austin and Hines Busby.

Over the course of three-plus seasons, the two seniors have compiled a 70-14-5 overall record, including a 15-1 record in the county and a 40-4 record in the Central Carolina Conference.  The Hornets have been conference champions twice and are currently in first place, looking for a third trophy. They have reached the playoffs each season, with a 6-2 record, including two fourth-round appearances.

Salisbury won’t play again until the Hornets host North Rowan on Oct. 28 at 6 p.m.
