High school girls tennis: Hornets end great season at Hendersonville

HENDERSOVILLE — Salisbury’s girls tennis team ended the season at Hendersonville with a 5-3 loss in the third round of the 2A state playoffs.
The Hornets (14-2) had a first-round bye and won a second-round match against West Stokes at home.
The Hornets were seeded eighth in the 2A West bracket and had a tough draw, as they hit the road against the top-seeded team in Round 3. Hendersonville (11-2) has won five straight state titles and could win a sixth.
Salisbury won its 22nd straight Central Carolina Conference championship.
Lucy Barr and Meredith Williams were state semifinalists in individual doubles.
