High school boys soccer: Hornets lose finale on road, co-champs with East Davidson

THOMASVILLE — East Davidson beat Salisbury 4-0 in Central Carolina Conference boys soccer on Monday.

East Davidson led 3-0 at the half.

The win gave the Golden Eagles (13-8-1, 11-1-1) a share of the CCC championship with the Hornets (18-2-3, 11-1-1).

Salisbury beat East Davidson 2-1 on Sept. 23 at home.

Salisbury won an outright CCC championship in 2023. East Davidson won the league in 2022.

Both teams will await the pairings for the 2A state playoffs that will be announced on Thursday.

Salisbury still has a substantial advantage in RPI, as the Hornets are ninth in the 2A West RPI rankings, while East Davidson, which struggled early in the season, is 18th. Salisbury is expected to get the league’s “1” seed for the playoffs.
