David Miller, who is currently principal at Millbridge Elementary School, will take over Southeast Middle School on July 1, the Rowan-Salisbury School System announced today.
Miller will succeed Skip Kraft, who is retiring after a 30-year career in education capped by a five-year stint as principal at Southeast.
Salisbury High School Principal Windsor Eagle has also announced he’ll retire at the end of June. The school system has not named Eagle’s replacement.
The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education voted this week to approve Superintendent Dr. Judy Grissom’s recommendation to appoint Miller the new principal at Southeast Middle.
Miller has worked in the Rowan-Salisbury system since 1998 and has been principal at Millbridge since 2007. Before that, he was an assistant principal at Rockwell and China Grove elementary schools and spent six years teaching at Erwin and China Grove middle schools.
Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in administration from the University of North Carolina ta Charlotte. He’s a 1994 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School in Cabarrus County.
He lives near China Grove with wife Marla — who teaches in the Exceptional Children program at Shive Elementary — and their two children, 9-year-old Nolan and 6-year-old Macy.
