A truck driver from Salisbury was killed Wednesday when he drove into the back of a stopped truck in a construction zone near Kinston, authorities say.
Ronald Easley, 60, of Salisbury apparently did not see the stopped truck, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said. There were no skid marks, though several warning signs alerted drivers to watch for stopped traffic before bridge work on U.S. 258.
The Kinston Free Press reported that the fiery wreck blocked the road for about four hours. The collision happened about 9 a.m.
