High school boys soccer: Season ends for Salisbury, North, Carson in first round

Rowan’s boys soccer season ended quickly on Saturday with losses in the first round of the state playoffs by Salisbury, North Rowan and Carson.
A.L.Brown won in a big upset, as the Wonders knocked out No. 3 seed Lake Norman in the 4A West bracket.
Gray Stone Day won in the first round. South Piedmont Conference teams Concord, Robinson and Northwest Cabarrus advanced.
Thomasville was the lone winner from the Central Carolina Conference. The Greater Metro Conference had a strong opening round, with Cox Mill, Mooresville and Hickory Ridge advancing, as well as A.L. Brown.
