In Rowan County, we take pride in looking out for one another. When a family faces hardship, our community steps up. When a child struggles, we rally to support them. And year after year, Rowan County United Way has been a vital partner in making sure we have the resources to make this possible.

In 2023, more than 77,000 individuals in our county — our neighbors, friends and families — received help from United Way-funded programs focused on basic needs, mental health, substance use and healthy living. Through the NC 211 referral system alone, over 1,800 people were connected to critical services like food, shelter and financial assistance. These numbers show the need, but they also show something more: that with the support of people like you, no one is without the help they need.

In the Rowan-Salisbury School System, United Way funding fills significant gaps for our students, particularly in mental health services. We know that children face so many challenges today, and sometimes they need a helping hand to make it through. For many of our students, accessing mental health care is difficult. Even for families with insurance, high co-pays and other costs often keep them from pursuing the care their children need. And when mental health issues go unaddressed, it affects not just learning but a child’s overall well-being.

Thanks to the funding we receive from Rowan County United Way, we can break down these barriers. Mental health services within the school setting are transformative. With United Way’s support, Rowan-Salisbury Schools offers school-based mental health services from community mental health agencies that eliminate financial burdens for families. For students and families who may be underinsured or facing significant financial strain, the United Way’s support in funding bridges this gap, and your contribution is a critical part of that impact. This means students can get the counseling they need right at school, without worrying about transportation or hefty medical bills. These services allow children to focus on what really matters — feeling safe, supported and ready to learn.

Your gift to the Rowan County United Way campaign isn’t just about numbers; it’s about people. It’s about a child who can smile more freely, a family who feels the relief of a helping hand and a community that grows stronger together. By supporting this campaign, you’re helping to create a foundation of health, hope and opportunity for every person in our county.  Together, we can make Rowan County a place where every child, no matter their background, has access to the mental health resources they need to thrive.

Rowan County United Way is not just another organization—it is a community partner and change agent. When you give, you’re making a difference that truly matters. Together we can continue to build a foundation of hope, health and opportunity for every resident. You’re making Rowan County a place where everyone, especially our children, has the chance to thrive.
