Salisbury man killed in weekend crash identified

The driver of a GMC pickup truck involved in a fatal collision on Friday has been identified.

According to reports from the N.C. State Highway Patrol, Jacob Ryan Causey, 20, was traveling south on Shuping Mill Road in a GMC pickup truck around 11:28 p.m. when he reportedly ran a stop sign at Old Beatty Ford Road, crashing into a Ford Fiesta that was in the intersection.

Causey, who was reportedly driving the truck, was declared deceased at the scene. After colliding with the Fiesta, the truck ran off the side of Shuping Mill Road and rolled over.

According to the investigation, Causey was not wearing a seatbelt. His family has been notified.

A passenger in the truck was taken to Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord for treatment of minor injuries.

The Fiesta ran off the right side of Old Beatty Ford Road but no injuries were reported for the driver of that vehicle.
