Rowan County resident brings home Special Olympics bronze

Special Olympics Kansas hosted the 2024 Special Olympics North America Golf Championship Oct. 28-31 at the Crestview Country Club in Wichita.
Benjamin Smith, playing alongside his unified partner Edward D. Buchanan, captured third place in the contest. They have been playing golf together for over 11 years, he is a great supporter of Benji’s and enjoys playing with him immensely.
The SONA Golf Championship welcomed more than 250 athletes, Unified partners and coaches from the United States and Canada.
Thanks to his coaches through the years and his current golf coaches Joy Childers and Carl Childers II, Benji has always excelled in the sports he’s played. Benji has been involved with Special Olympics Rowan County since he was 4. He has participated in golf, bowling, swimming and track & field.
