What’s your next move? Are you retired and bored? Do your goals feel unattainable? In a world full of distractions, vision boards can help you stay inspired, focused and motivated to fulfill and accomplish your future desires of the heart. We invite you to Rowan Public Library Headquarters in Salisbury on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. to learn more about vision boards and try your hand at making your own.
Adult Services Supervisor Lyndsey Maloney said, “We wanted to do a program that focuses on seniors where they could explore their goals and their next adventure. Everyone has goals, but they do not always know how to reach them. This program will allow customers to focus on their goals, then help teach them how they can start reaching their goals utilizing library resources.”
So, what is a vision board? It is a collage or hodgepodge of photographs, words, names, symbols or stickers that help visually show what you are working towards. In this workshop, Seniors will be provided with all the materials they need to brainstorm and visually define their goals. Think about what inspires, motivates, centers you and what you are grateful for, then think about the goals you would like to work toward and then the creation begins.
Vision boards are personal goals, so do not be afraid to think and “dream big.” There are no limitations to your dreams. Have you ever thought about bungee jumping, traveling the world, owning a business, restoring/rebuilding a car, learning another language, taking an online class, enjoying a ballet class or another goal? The sky is the limit!
RPL staffer Yulanda Carson will guide you through how to create a vision board and introduce resources that the library offers to help you achieve your vision. Join us for a fun day of crafting and learning. All supplies will be provided and light refreshments will be served.
