SALISBURY — Trinity Living Center is bringing the Christmas cheer to the F&M Trolley Barn from Dec. 6 through 8 for everyone to enjoy with the organization’s Festival of Trees event.

Seniors living with dementia, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their friends and supporters will trim their own tree and decorate it with handmade ornaments to stand alongside more than a dozen others sponsored by local organizations and individuals.

The Festival of Trees raises money to support TLC’s year-round adult day program.

“The Festival of Trees is one of our community’s most beloved traditions,” said TLC Executive Director Beth Huber. “In the past, ARC of Rowan and Partners in Learning have hosted it. We are so excited to have a turn this year,” she added.

TLC provides social and cognitive enrichment, nutritious meals and medical supervision for up to 60 participants per day, giving their caregivers a chance to work or tend to their own needs.

“My wife and I both work full-time,” said Bobby Eddleman, whose mother attends the program. “When Mom got sick, I was able to take a leave for a couple of months, but we were not in a position to stop working. If it weren’t for Trinity Living Center, we would have been forced to make some hard decisions.”

“Every day I’ve done something different. And I tell (my son) Bobby, you won’t believe what all I’ve done today. I just love it,” added Helen Eddleman.

Free and open to the public, the Festival of Trees will take place at the F&M Trolley Barn, located at 125 E. Liberty St. in Salisbury, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.

The event is made possible by generous sponsorships from Duke Energy, Novant Health, R&L Carriers and Trellis Home Care.
