The National Weather Service issued a report at 12:56 a.m. on Tuesday for light snow until 7 a.m. The alert is for Greater Caldwell and Greater Burke as well as Alexander, Iredell, Davie, Catawba, Rowan, Cleveland, Lincoln, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Union counties.
“An area of flurries and snow showers is moving across the North Carolina Piedmont this morning. While most areas will only see flurries, some locations will see a brief period of light snow accumulate to a dusting on elevated and grassy surfaces. A few isolated areas could see a brief burst of moderate snow, with accumulations up to an inch possible. The most likely areas to see accumulating snowfall will be north of the city of Charlotte. The snow and flurries are expected to end around daybreak. With temperatures expected to fall to the lower-to-mid 20s later this morning, any lingering wet or snow-covered roads are likely to freeze, resulting in isolated slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses,” says the NWS.
