SALISBURY — A juvenile and an 18-year-old woman have been charged in connection with the car jacking of a Lyft driver from Nov. 7, according to Salisbury police.

On that date, the Lyft driver went to pick up a fare in the 300 block of Annandale Avenue. The driver told police that there were two female passengers and that one was wearing a mask.

As they got in the car, she asked for their names to verify they were her fare, and the one wearing the mask pulled out a gun and put it to the victim’s head. They forced the driver out of the car and drove off with her vehicle.

Police entered the vehicle information into National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database, and that night, they received notice that Lexington police had the vehicle and the two women stopped. Lexington police did find the mask and the gun along with the victim’s cell phone, which was still in the car’s glove box. Police were able to call the victim to verify the vehicle was hers.

The juvenile was referred to juvenile authorities and the 18-year-old, Kayla Campbell, was charged by Lexington police then bonded out. Salisbury police in the interim applied for a warrant with which they arrested her on Nov. 15 at her home in Salisbury.

Campbell was charged by Salisbury with robbery with a firearm and obtaining property under false pretenses. Because she was already out on a bond in Davidson County, she was given no bond in Rowan County.
