College football: Valdosta crushes Virginia Union

VALDOSTA, Ga. —Valdosta State’s unbeaten football team rolled 49-14 against Virginia Union in Saturday’s D-II Southeast Regional final.
Virginia Union linebacker Jabril Norman (Salisbury) was credited with four tackles.
Top-seeded Valdosta State (12-0) racked up 562 yards of offense, with Blazer quarterback Sammy Edwards throwing for 302 yards before taking a seat.
Jada Byers had 109 rushing yards and a TD for seventh-seeded Virginia Union (10-4), which staged two upsets to make the regional final, but the Panthers were held to 88 passing yards and 156 rushing yards.
Valdosta State was in control 28-7 at the half.
Next for Valdosta State is a home game against Minnesota State in the national quarterfinals.
