Faith holding public hearing tonight on extending aldermen’s terms

FAITH — The Faith Board of Aldermen will hold a public hearing on extending the terms for members of the board from two to four years during its meeting tonight.
The board passed a resolution announcing their intent to do so during the October meeting, at which time they discussed options for how to effect the change.
Town Clerk Karen Fink confirmed during that October meeting that if the term change and election date changes were passed as law before Faith’s next election cycle, in 2025, then the current board members would have their terms extended through 2026. The elected aldermen that year would then serve the town’s first four-year terms.
The town typically holds its public hearings before the regularly-scheduled board meetings, which is set for tonight at 7 p.m. at the Faith Town Hall, located 100 N. Main St. The hearing for the term changes is set for 6:50 p.m., just after a hearing for changing the speed limit on Gardner Street during Faith Academy’s school hours. The Gardner Street hearing is set for 6:40 p.m.
