Man charged with arson in August fire

A structure fire that occurred Aug. 18 has been resolved with an arrest and charge of arson, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

A resident on Weaver Road, China Grove told deputies he saw a man on his Ring doorbell camera, possibly carrying a fuel can. He then realized his back storage shed was on fire, and the fire also partially damaged a work truck parked near the shed.

The resident grabbed a hose and put out the fire.

On Dec. 9, following an interview with investigators, Korbyn Casper, 19, of Mooresville, was arrested and charged with first degree arson and burning of personal property. He was held without bond due to the pretrial integrity act.

Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports

• A burglary of a business on College Drive reportedly occurred between 10 p.m. Dec. 10 and 8:30 a.m. Dec. 11.

• An assault and property amage on Redhaven Drive reportedly occurred about 5:54 p.m. Dec. 11.

• A larceny on Hannah Ferry road reportedly occurred between 6 p.m. Dec. 6 and noon Dec. 12.

• Angel Antonion M. Vega, 21, was arrested Dec. 11 and charged with discharge of a firearm inside an occupied property with an officer inside. This arrest was on a warrant for another agency and no further information was available.

• Deangelo Reshawn Willias, 30, was arrested Dec. 11 and charged with two counts of obtaining property under false pretenses and two counts of possession of stolen goods or property.

• Christopher Anthony Carras, 60, was arrested Dec. 11 and charged with solicitation of a child by computer.

• Christopher Charles Lippard, 32, was arrested Dec. 11 and charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Craig Allen Garmon, 51, was arrested Dec. 11 and charged with assault on a female.

Salisbury Police reports

• A report of a larceny from a motor vehicle om East Franklin Street reportedly occurred at 12:26 a.m. Dec. 12. Total estimated loss was $160.

• A robber of a person on South Caldwell Street reportedly occurred at 7:51 p.m. Dec. 12. Total estimated loss of $250.

• Antwond Montiro Glenn, 27, was arrested Dec. 11 and charged with resist/delay/obstruct a police officer.
