A head-on collision on Thursday around 7:45 a.m. resulted in the death of a 53-year-old Denton woman, according to N.C. State Highway Patrol.

Leslie Ann Petty was killed when the driver of a Coca-Cola truck traveling east on Old Beatty Ford Road crossed the center line and hit Petty’s car on Old Beatty Ford Road.

The driver of the truck, Destinee Phillips, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.

Master Trooper Whit Efird said the road between Phaniel Church Road and Shuping Mill Road was closed for about two hours following the crash but had reopened before midday.
