Friday games …
DENTON – Salisbury’s girls basketball team only dressed seven players, but five would have been plenty against South Davidson.
The Hornets led the Wildcats (3-7, 0-3) 16-1 after five minutes.
The Hornets led 24-2 late in the first quarter and cruised to a 73-21 Central Carolina Conference victory.
Salisbury (4-3, 2-0) built its early cushion mostly by getting after it on the offensive board.
It was 42-11 at halftime. The Hornets achieved a running clock with a 58-18 lead by the end of the third quarter
The Hornets weren’t great at the foul line, but they were 10-for-19, much better than Thursday’s 4-for-20 effort in a loss to East Rowan.
Freshman Gabbi Fatovic scored a season-high 23 for the Hornets.
Torese Evans did most of the early damage for Salisbury, hit two 3-pointers and scored 19. Keiara Spruill had a season-high 15.
