SALISBURY — Partners In Learning, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children and families in our community, recently brought the joy of Christmas to a family facing significant hardship.

Through the generosity of a donor, Partners In Learning was able to fulfill the family’s holiday wishes and provide much-needed support during a difficult time.

The family, which includes four children with special needs, experienced a setback when they were forced to relocate from their home to a hotel due to an untenable rent increase.

That displacement placed a strain on the family, particularly the mother, who provides full-time care for one of the children. The father, the sole provider, works to support his family but faces immense financial pressure.

“Raising a child with special needs often comes with significant and unexpected financial burdens,” Clinical Director Cassie Karriker said. “From specialized therapies and medical equipment to adaptive technologies and inaccessible safe housing, these families face costs far exceeding those of typical child-rearing.”

Recognizing the family’s urgent needs, Partners In Learning connected with a generous donor who graciously agreed to sponsor their Christmas wishes. The donor fulfilled the family’s Amazon wish list, which included essential items such as clothing, shoes, and toys for the children, as well as gift cards for groceries.

“We are incredibly grateful to our generous donor for their kindness and compassion,” Development Director Amy Vestal said. “This holiday season, thanks to their support, this family will experience the joy and warmth of Christmas despite the challenges they are facing.”

Partners In Learning coordinated the delivery of a truckload of gifts to the family in time for Christmas, bringing smiles and hope to their holiday season. This act of kindness exemplifies the spirit of giving and the positive impact that community support can have on the lives of those in need.
