SALISBURY — For the second year, members of the Salisbury Police Department, the Salisbury Fire Department, Rowan County Emergency Services and the Veterans Affairs Police Department gathered to sing carols and light up the night in front of the VA center.

Those who were able to join in the brief caroling session met, despite the cold, outside the front entrance, where blue and red lights on emergency vehicles swirled across the group.

Members of the community and veterans and their families were all invited to join, and Salisbury Police Chief Patrick “PJ” Smith and Rowan County Emergency Services Chief Allan Cress led the singing.

“It’s always an honor to be here, thank you for having us, and thank you for all you do among your departments and to the veterans,” said Smith.

Cress said his department covers a variety of services and thanked both his team and the fire and police crews for their ongoing work and veterans for their services.

“And of course want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas,” said Cress.
