Letter to the editor: How did she do it?

Mayor Alexander was an amazing lady. I don’t know how she did it all. The things that stand out to me the most are her kindness and compassion. Simply put, Mayor loved people. She was always interested in what was happening in your life and if you were hurting she hurt too. It came across in everything she did and that is why people were drawn to her.

Mayor wanted to make the world a better place and she was a tremendous ambassador and champion for the city. She worked so hard on things that will benefit North Carolina, Rowan County and the city today and for generations to come.

Mayor Alexander was a mayor for the people. She attended every event she could and she gave you a piece of herself, whether it was presenting a proclamation in Spanish, honoring a veteran, or attending an employee luncheon. Whatever she did she gave her whole heart, she did it with a beautiful smile and you knew you were in the presence of greatness.

It has been my honor and privilege to work for her, to learn from her and to serve as her clerk. It is so hard to let her go. I love you Mayor! Thank you for everything! You are so missed!
