High school swimming: Knights win SPC Championships

HUNTERSVILLE — Lake Norman Charter’s girls swim team took gold in five of the 11 events, including two relays, and won the South Piedmont Conference Championships on Tuesday.
The Championships were held at the Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatic Center.
Lake Norman totaled 608.5 points to outdistance Central Cabarrus. The Vikings had three firsts and 458 points.
Northwest Cabarrus (399), South Rowan (288.5) and East Rowan (190) were next. Concord had two firsts and 173 points. Robinson (155), Carson (26) and West Rowan (6) rounded out the field.
East’s Addy Sechriest was the only Rowan individual to win an event. She was fastest in the 500 free in 5:34.
Sechriest had a sixth in the 200 IM, while Gracie Lineberger was sixth in the 100 fly. Sechriest, Lineberger, Ellie Lentz and Iyanna Berry were fifth in the 400 free relay.
Sadie Siscoe had the top individual finish for South. She was sixth in the 200 free. South’s 400 free relay team of Gracie Hinson, Kayleigh Draughn, Madison Glenn and RaElla Smokstad also placed sixth. Also finishing sixth was the 200 IM relay unit of Siscoe, Brinley Patterson, Ava Blume and Glenn.
Carson’s Karis Miller was eighth in the 100 free and 200 IM.
Marion Blake was 13th in the 500 free and had the highest individual finish for West.
