The N.C. Department of Transportation has postponed a project to replace the bridge carrying Faith Road over Crane Creek in Rowan County to ensure the work will not interfere with the town of Faith’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration.
The project will temporarily close Faith Road to through-traffic, and motorists will be required to use a detour route during construction of the new bridge. NCDOT postponed the project to ensure out-of-town visitors could easily access Faith’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration, which usually attracts thousands of visitors from across the state.
“We recognize the significance of the Fourth of July Celebration to the town of Faith, and the economic impact of this annual event,” said NCDOT Division Nine Engineer Pat Ivey. “As soon as we realized the timing of the road closure would coincide with the festivities, we worked with the contractor to postpone the project until after the Independence Day celebration.”
The project will now begin on July 7 and be completed by Dec. 3, weather permitting. Local traffic will be able to access homes and businesses from either end of Faith Road, but will not be able to pass beyond the closure points on either side of Crane Creek. Motorists traveling through the area will use Heilig Road, Old Concord Road and St. Paul’s Church Road as the signed detour route.
