Rayford Harrison, son of David and Susan Harrison and grandson of Fred and Dorothy Setzer of Salisbury, recently attended the 73rd session of Tar Heel Boys State at Catawba College.
One of 257 delegates chosen from across the state, Harrison was sponsored by the Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Post 342.
Attendees learned about the operations of local and state government and served as a representative of the city council.
A rising senior at North Rowan High School, Harrison is also a member of the DREAM Team (Daring to Role-model Excellence as Athletic Mentors), sponsored by the N.C. High School Athletic Association. Training focused on becoming a positive role model and leader among younger students as well as his peers.
Harrison also served as a Junior Marshal and is a member of the National Honor Society, Cross Country team, Gold team, Marching Cavaliers and is a Scholar Athlete.
He is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he is a senior altar server. He also attended Sacred Heart School through eighth grade.
