SPENCER — More than 80 people began setting up foldable chairs for the Spencer Circus Train puppet show Saturday night before the thunder struck.
But the downpour lasted only minutes and the summer’s puppet finale kicked off about 8 p.m.
At the end of the show, Central United Methodist Church membes handed out 50 “prayer blankets” donated by church members to children in attendance.
Patti Kluttz, who helped manage the show Saturday night, said the puppet shows have garnered record attendance this year and have topped 100 people at least once.
The show is held every Saturday night in June and July.
“This is our 14th year,” she said. “It’s been the best year yet.”
