City’s new minimum charge causing maximum woes
Thanks to the wisdom of our City Council members, our minimum monthly charge for all services has increased more than 40 percent compared to last year, whether we use a single drop of water or not.
In some cases, and depending on the service you have, the minimum charge increases upwards of 60 percent. In my case, the minimum charge will be more than $400 for the entire year, even if I leave town for the next 12 months without using any of the services rendered.
Given the depressed economy and the high rate of unemployment, not to mention the underprivileged, the handicapped, plus the senior citizens who lives on a fixed income, it makes me wonder about the sanity of our elected City Council members and what planet they’ve been living on for the past year. For sure, they ain’t in touch with the real world!
If you questions the facts stated above, I challenge you to compare your previous water bill with the upcoming bill for the new fiscal year effective July 1.

Better things to care about
I do not understand how a business can publicly announce that they do not approve of someone with a particular lifestyle.
Who are we to prevent someone from enjoying their life? Must we really make someone suffer for what they believe in? I think that we should all grow up. It is the 21st century, and we should be more civilized than that. You shouldn’t judge people based on something as irrelevant as that. There are plenty of better things to care about than someone’s preferences.
Shame on whoever went to Chick-fil-A for the sole purpose of supporting this foolish ideal. My motto is to treat everyone the way that you would want to be treated, and I’m pretty sure no one wants their entire way of life protested so publicly.
