SALISBURY — Temporary flight restrictions issued by the federal government for the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte will affect the Rowan County Airport.
Although the airport is considered outside Charlotte airspace, the Federal Aviation Administration has issued a flight advisory for all planes taking off or landing within 35 miles of Time Warner Cable Arena, where much of the convention will be held.
From 4 p.m. to midnight Sept. 4 to 6, pilots at the Rowan County Airport must follow additional temporary requirements, including filing a flight plan and communicating with air traffic controllers in Charlotte and Greensboro.
Other activities are banned during those hours, such as skydiving and flying model planes.
