SALISBURY – Police are searching for two men who assaulted and robbed a Salisbury woman near her apartment Wednesday morning.
Salisbury Police said the 43-year-old woman walked out of her Crown Point Drive apartment about 7:15 a.m. to go to work. Two men approached wearing masks and attempted to force the woman back into the residence.
Authorities said the victim fell to the ground during the attack and one of the men hit her in the face with a long gun.
The woman suffered a broken nose in the attack, police said.
Officers brought in police dogs to search the area and tracked the men to the 400 block of Union Heights Boulevard.
There authorities found the stolen purse with its contents scattered on the ground. Police also found two sets of clothes they believe the assailants wore over their clothing during the robbery.
“It appeared to be clothing that they had on,” Salisbury Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said.
But the trail ended with the evidence.
An incident report said most of the property was recovered.
The victim was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center. She was treated and released.
Descriptions of the men were not available this morning.
Authorities ask that anyone with information contact the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
