Closed session on Monday’s school board agenda

The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education will discuss a number of district policies during its work session Monday.
The policies up for discussion deal with nondiscrimination based on disabilities, board elections and terms, children of military families, linguistic translating, staff-student relationships, media assistants, parental involvement, equal education opportunities and education for pregnant and parenting students.
According to Chairman Dr. Richard Miller, the board will discuss property acquisition for the central office with their attorney during closed session.
“I think we’re close, but I don’t know,” he said.
In addition, the board will discuss Superintendent Dr. Lynn Moody’s evaluation and maybe discuss personnel recommendations, he said.
The board will also discuss which training curriculum they want to use during their board retreat — the North Carolina School Board Association’s Master Board
District technology personnel will work on upgrading school board members’ iPads and laptops.
The board will meet Monday at 4 p.m. at Horizons Unlimited, 1636 Parkview Circle in Salisbury.
In addition, the Joint Planning Committee for the school board and county commissioners will meet Tuesday at 4 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the J. Newton Cohen Sr. Rowan County Administration Building, second floor in the J. Newton Cohen Sr. Room, 130 West Innes St., Salisbury.
