Every year, Piedmont Players Theatre stages a Shakespeare production for the youth.
This fall, it’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” which is generally considered one of the bard’s best comedies. At its heart it is a romantic romp, following the exploits of Beatrice and Benedick.
Director Reid Leonard has styled this play with some Godfather/1920s gangster flavor. so if you’re expecting Elizabethan costumes, think again.
The show will be performed at the Norvell Theater to Rowan County eighth graders Sept. 26-28.
Box office opens for public performances Monday, Sept. 24. Public performances are Friday Sept. 28 and Friday Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 6 at 2:30 P.M. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students and $7 for groups of 20 or more.
