Philip Simons earns Eagle

As a Cub Scout, Philip earned the God and Me and God and Family Awards, as well as the Arrow of Light. As a Boy Scout in Troop 442, Philip has earned 22 merit badges. He has served as an Instructor and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He completed an 83-mile backpacking trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in 2010.
Philip is a member of the Order of the Arrow and has earned the Philmont Arrowhead, 50-Miler (Canoeing), 50-Miler (Backpacking), Kayaking BSA, Snorkeling BSA, World Conservation and Philmont’s Duty to God awards.
A junior at Salisbury High School, Philip participates in varsity soccer, cross country and track and was a member of the 2011 state championship men’s soccer team. Philip is a volunteer soccer coach at Salisbury Academy and is an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Salisbury.
For his Eagle Scout leadership service project, Philip planned, conducted fund raising, and led a team of scouts and vol3unteers in improving the site of the community garden sponsored by St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. The project included the construction of a storage bin, compost area and a large gateway trellis that will be used for climbing vegetation.
Philip is the son of George and Georgia Simons of Salisbury.
