SALISBURY — Dustin Wilson, the marketing director for Chick-fil-A, has been named chairman of the Leadership Rowan Steering Committee for the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce.
Salisbury City Clerk Myra Heard, who was a 2008 graduate of Leadership Rowan, served as the previous chairwoman.
Wilson will lead the program, which will feature topics including history and power, business and the economy, public education, human needs, government, criminal justice, communications and quality of life.
Leadership Rowan also will offer new speakers on social media, public speaking, crisis communication, conflict management, media tours, grant funding, an economic overview of how incentives work, entrepreneurial development and diversity training.
Other member of the steering committee are Natasha Lipscomb, Nick Means, Greg Philpott, Amy Smith, John Wear, Tyler Weant and Joey Williams.
Sponsored by the chamber, Leadership Rowan is a program for highly motivated people and existing leaders. One day a month for nine months, participants get an in-depth view of community issues, develop leadership skills necessary to assume leadership roles and are exposed to community involvement opportunities.
Leadership Rowan is unlike other programs because it provides participants the opportunity to meet and discuss issues with key community leaders.
