SALISBURY – Livingstone College will host an “Evening of Jazz” to kickoff the 2012-2013 United Negro College Fund (UNCF) campaign for Concord/Kannapolis, Lexington/Thomasville, Statesville and Salisbury/Rowan County, the assigned areas for the Livingstone College campaign. The event will be held in the college’s Events and Hospitality Center tonight at 6:30 p.m.
The United Negro College Fund provides its member colleges and universities with unrestricted funds for operations, scholarships and internships in an effort to provide educational opportunities to deserving students who have the desire to attend college but not the resources.
More than 98 percent of the students who attend Livingstone College need some form of financial assistance. Many are first generation students and from low-to-moderate income families.
Music for the event will be provided by local and campus talent. Admission is free and open to the public. Remember, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.”
