Home Instead offering 'Be a Santa to a Senior'

Salisbury’s Home Instead Senior Care office is launching its eighth annual “Be a Santa to a Senior” program, which provides gifts to needy senior citizens in Rowan and Cabarrus counties.
Participating nursing homes identify needy, orphaned and isolated seniors. The names of the seniors, along with the gifts they would like, are placed on ornaments to be picked up by a shopper willing to purchase a gift for that senior.
Shoppers can pick up an ornament, buy items on the list, and return them unwrapped to the same store/facility where they found them, along with the senior ornament attached. All gifts need to be in by Dec. 5 to ensure they get to the seniors in time.
Home Instead Senior Care enlists volunteers to collect, wrap and distribute the gifts.
Participants are:
• Walgreens stores at 1505 E. Innes St., 705 Jake Alexander Blvd. and 1906 W. Innes St.
• Community One Bank, 1938 Jake Alexander Blvd. West
• J.F. Hurley YMCA
• Genesis Health Care
All facilities should have Christmas trees up and decorated by Wednesday, Nov. 7.
