Brandy Cook made history Monday being sworn-in as the first female district attorney in Rowan County.
Cook’s husband, Mark Schindelholz, held the Bible as Judge Erwin Spainhour of Cabarrus County administered the oath of office.
Her in-laws, Dan and Denise Schindelholz, were also on hand to support her as she takes her new post.
Former U.S. Attorney Anna Mills Wagoner returned to Rowan County to be sworn in as superior court judge.
Wagoner, who served as U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina for nine years, will be succeeding Judge John Holshouser, who retired in August after turning 72.
Wagoner’s husband, Bill Wagoner, daughter, Anna Gregory Wagoner, son, Price Wagoner, brother, Greg Scarborough, mother, Lib Cooper, and father-in-law, Walt Wagoner, attended the ceremony.
After being sworn in by Spainhour, Wagoner administered the oath of office to district court judges Charlie Brown, William Kluttz, Beth Dixon and Kevin Eddinger.
She also swore in eight assistant district attorneys.
