Free swing dance lessons will continue tonight and Friday at City Park in preparation for the Big Band Bash on Saturday.
The lessons run from 6 to 7 p.m. at the City Park recreation center. Anyone who plans to attend the Big Band Bash, a fundraiser for the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, is welcome.
Instructor Diana Moghrabi, who works for Salisbury Community Planning Services, is donating her expertise.
“I just love to see people dance,” she said.
This is the second year she’s offered free lessons before the Big Band Bash, and she specializes in teaching beginners.
People who can’t attend the free lessons can still learn to swing from Moghrabi.
She will teach a dance class starting next month through the Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department. The class runs from 7 to 8 p.m. on Fridays, beginning Feb. 4 and ending March 11.
The cost is $30 for singles and $50 for couples. To sign up, call 704-638-5295.
Big Band Bash attendees who want lessons tonight or Friday can just show up at City Park. Twenty people had the place swinging Wednesday.
“We had a great time,” Moghrabi said.
