CHARLOTTE — People traveling through Charlotte Douglas International Airport will find construction around the airport for the next few months.
The left-hand lane on Little Rock Road between Wilkinson Boulevard and Old Dowd Road approaching the terminal will be closed today-Thursday, July 17 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays. Crews will be installing concrete foundations in order to hang the airport’s new entrance road’s overhead signage this fall.
Additionally, on Friday, July 18, the right-hand lane on Little Rock Road between Wilkinson Boulevard and Old Dowd Road will be closed for utility and curb work. The lane will not reopen to drivers until the end of September.
During construction, the entrance to Long Term 1 and 2 parking lots, located on Little Rock Road, will remain open. Passengers are encouraged to slow down, pay attention to all signage and use caution while entering and exiting these lots.
Drivers should also note the closure of one outbound lane from the terminal will occur today-Tuesday, Sept. 30 as crews work on the airport’s new exit lanes from 10:30 p.m.-6 a.m. two to three nights a week. Traffic officers will be on hand to assist.
