Salisbury Veggies will host a vegan bake sale at 11 a.m. Saturday in front of the Stitchin’ Post in downtown Salisbury.
Proceeds will benefit Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary, a nonprofit no-kill animal shelter under construction in Rowan County.
Saturday’s event is part of the third annual World Wide Vegan Bake sale, a week-long effort to promote animal-free diets and raise money for animal-friendly causes.
In 2009, the first year of the event, nearly 100 groups raised more than $25,000 for a variety of causes.
Last year, participants on six continents raised more than $40,000 for their causes.
