SHS tennis sends six to state

Salisbury tennis dominated the 2A Midwest Regional individual competition held in Salisbury on Friday and Saturday, winning two titles and advancing six players to the state event.
Salisburyís Steven Page won the regional singles title by beating teammate Alan Lebowitz 6-1, 6-1 in the final.
Lebowitz, who won three matches, will join Page in the state tournament.
The Salisbury doubles team of Seth Gentry-Alex Weant went 4-0 and won the regional championship with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 decision against Wilkes Centralís Jesse Massucco.
Salisbury also qualified a second doubles team. Lewis Young-Brock Overcash won two matches and finished fourth in the regional. The top four regional finishers qualify for the state event.

Players from the Central Carolina, Rocky River, Northwest and Mountain Valley conferences competed in the regional. Former Salisbury coach Chris Myers directed the event.
The 2A state tournament will be held in Cary on May 13-14.
