Ys hit by vandals, thieves

SALISBURY — Two YMCAs in the county were victims of vandals and thieves over the weekend.
The YMCA soccer field at 1150 Majolica Road was vandalized, with equipment on the field spray-painted.
Some time between Saturday and Sunday, a television was taken from a room in the J.F. Hurley YMCA on Jake Alexander Boulevard.
The Salisbury Police Department and Rowan County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
Other reports from the Sheriff’s Office:
• Everette Brown of Phaniel Church Road reported eight transmissions were taken from vehicles on his property, along with three rear ends of vehicles between May 2 and May 15. The total value of the items stolen is about $2,500.
• John Duke of Old West Innes Street reported that someone entered his home and took a $1,500 watch, more than $500 cash, a set of wrenches a paint brush and a Chinese streamer from his home. The total value of the property stolen is about $2,600. The items were taken some time Friday.
