SALISBURY — Two armed robberies happened about an hour apart Saturday night, and the Salisbury Police Department is investigating.
According to police, the first robbery took place at 10:30 p.m. outside of Big Lots at Salisbury Mall, 1935 W. Jake Alexander Blvd.
Police said two female employees had just locked up the store and were walking to their cars when two men came up to them, one holding a shotgun.
The men asked them for the store’s deposit bag, but they didn’t have it, so they took the women’s purses and ran, jumping over a fence into the Clancy Hills Apartment neighborhood. Neither female was injured.
The second robbery happened outside of Dollar Tree, 211 Faith Road, shortly before 11 p.m.
Police said two employees were walking to their cars when they were approached by a man wearing a hoodie and a bandanna across his face.
The man pulled a handgun out, the report said, pointed it at them, and asked for the store deposit. One of the employees handed over the deposit, and the man took off running.
Anyone with information into these incidents are encouraged to contact the Salisbury Police Department, 704-638-5333.
